MY COMMITMENT

  1. Having been led by God the Holy Spirit to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour and Lord, I hereby express my desire to unite with the local expression of Christ’s body known as the CENTRAL HEIGHTS CHURCH, understanding that the people of Central Heights Church endeavour to connect with God, connect with each other and connect with the community and beyond. 
  1. Having been baptized upon the confession of my faith, it is my desire to grow in my understanding of our Lord’s will as revealed in the Holy Bible. I shall therefore assume personal responsibility to engage in regular Bible study, prayer, and relationship with my brothers and sisters in Christ at Central Heights Church. (Acts 2:41-47; Romans 12:1-21; Hebrews 10:19-25) 
  1. I recognize that as a member of the body of Christ I have been endowed with spiritual gifts. It is therefore my desire to contribute to the overall effectiveness of the body of Christ through the exercise of my spiritual gifts and through my exemplary conduct. (Ephesians 4:1-16; Romans 12:1-21; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31) 
  1. I gladly assume a degree of responsibility for the spiritual well-being of my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, and as such I will be “forbearing...eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” I will seek to encourage, admonish, and bear one another’s burdens in order that we might “grow together in love and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 4:2; Galatians 6:1-6) 
  1. I will protect the unity of my church: a) by acting in love toward other members. b) by refusing to gossip. c) by following the leaders. (Romans 14:19; 1 Peter 1:22; Ephesians 4:29; Hebrews 13:17)              
  1. I shall contribute, as the Lord directs and enables, a regular portion of my income for the support of the church, the relief of the needy, and the evangelization of all peoples. (I Corinthians 16:1-2; II Corinthians 8 & 9) 
  1. As a Christian I shall endeavour to live an exemplary life, walking wisely in the world, providing things honest in the sight of all men, and avoiding all ungodliness and worldly lusts. (Ephesians 5:1-18; Galatians 5:16-26) 
  1. I shall make every effort to grow in my faith, to glorify the Lord by my life, and to edify the church. If, however, I should err in my ways, I will expect my Christian brothers and sisters to admonish me and help me to correct the error of my way. (2 Timothy 4:2) 
  1. Recognizing the lost condition of all men without Jesus Christ, it shall be my goal to tell others about Jesus both by my words and by my life, and as the Holy Spirit enables, to lead them to an acceptance of Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and Lord. (Acts 1:8, II Corinthians 5:10-21) 

I have read the Central Heights Church Membership Agreement and the Beliefs document; I will endeavour to live my life in accordance with these beliefs.
